If you've already used our old plugins in an existing video project and can't find a particular video transition in our list of video transitions, we've created a helpful guide for you which will help you find your video transition..

Where are the plugins installed?

Plugins for Adobe Premiere Pro are located in the MediaCore folder.

Windows MediaCore folder location:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Common\Plug-ins\7.0\MediaCore\

macOS MediaCore folder location:
/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/Plug-ins/7.0/MediaCore/

Instructions for macOS users...
To navigate quickly to the MediaCore folder:

  • Open the Finder
  • Press CMD+SHIFT+G
  • Copy/Paste the location above and hit 'Go'

How does it work?

Premiere Pro will scan the entire MediaCore folder (including sub-folders) for plugins during launch.

Knowing where your plugins are located on your system is great when you want to manually add or delete plugins.

Managing Premiere Pro plugins comes down to basic file management:

  1. Adding plugin files into the MediaCore folder (or any subfolder) will install.
  2. Removing any plugin files from the MediaCore folder (or any subfolder) will remove those from Premiere.

Plugins have either the PRM extension (Windows) or the BUNDLE extension (macOS)

To transfer the license to another machine, you can do two things:

1. Try to register another device and take it from there

If you try to activate another machine and you've hit the activation limit, you will be presented with a nice activation dialog. This will allow you to de-activate a certain computer — then activate the current machine.

Alternatively, you can...

2. Explicitly deactivate one computer — Then re-activate another one.

You have the option to de-activate a license on a particular machine. In the license manager click "Deactivate this Device". This will release an activation, ready for another computer to use.

Sure, you can use it on your laptop too!

In fact, all combinations of two unique devices (desktops and laptops) are covered by just one license!

Troubleshooting

Here are some general troubleshooting tips for Adobe Premiere Pro.

  • Reset Premiere Pro.

Holding down Shift+ALT while Premiere Pro launches until the Welcome screen appears. This will reset both the preferences and plugin loading cache.

  • Clear Cache Files.

Close Premiere Pro and using Windows Explorer, navigate to the proper location(*) on the hard drive and manually delete all Cache folders along with the Peak Files.

Next time when you reopen the project, the cache file will rebuild itself.

* There is a Premiere Pro preference that shows the location of the Cache File Database. Go to the Premiere Pro Preferences > Media Cache. Here you can find the Media Cache File location on your computer.

  • Test other media.

Extremely large stills may sometimes cause issues. Try to lower the resolution for stills to save memory pressure.

  • Change renderer

Premiere Pro has different render engines for performance. You can easily switch between them. In case of trouble, try switching from GPU to Software or visa Versa.

In the Premiere Pro menu, go to:
File > Project Settings > General. Under “Video Rendering and Playback,” there’s a “Renderer” dropdown. From this dropdown, you can select a different renderer. E.g. select “Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration (Metal)”

  • Update your graphics card drivers.

New graphics drivers can be found on your graphics card manufacturers website (e.g. Nvidia or AMD)

This does not apply to macOS users unless you are using CUDA web-drivers. New graphics drivers for macOS come with OS updates. Because of this reason, we recommend you don't stay more than 1 or 2 major versions of macOS behind.

  • Restart your computer

Just restarting your computer will sometimes solve things. Why? Well each time you open up an application, this may leave something in your computer's memory, building-up memory pressure. It's good to reboot your device every once in a while.

1. Check if your license is valid

To check if your license is installed and valid, please open the License-Tab from with our plug-ins inside Premiere Pro.

  1. Open Premiere Pro
  2. Apply any Film Impact Video Transition to a clip in your timeline.
  3. Select this transition by clicking it
  4. Go to the Effects Browser (hit shift-5 to get here quickly)
  5. Click the "Settings" button or the "Manage your license" button.
This will open a dialog with Film Impact general settings.
  6. Go to the License Tab

The License Tab provides all information about your license. Please check if everything is okay.

2. Remove Preview Render Files

If you've got a valid license installed, and you are still seeing watermarks, it is likely the watermark got burned into your preview render files.

When you have activated our products, you may still experience some watermarks if you have made some preview renders while our product was in demo-mode. Premiere Pro is still showing these render files.

The solution is to delete the render files: In the menu select ‘Sequence’ > ‘Delete render files’
